• Secure approval from the Regional Certifying Body (RCB) in their region before nominating a candidate.

• Ensure the job is genuine, full-time, and available for a minimum of five years.

• Offer a market-rate salary in line with industry standards.

Eligibility Criteria for Skilled Workers

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Hold a positive skills assessment for the nominated occupation.

• Have at least 3 years of relevant full-time work experience.

• Be under 45 years of age at the time of application.

• Demonstrate Competent English proficiency (typically IELTS 6 or equivalent in each band).

Pathway to Permanent Residency – Subclass 191

Although Subclass 494 is a provisional visa, it is a stepping stone to permanent residency via the Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) Visa – Subclass 191. To qualify for the 191 visa, applicants must:

• Have held the Subclass 494 visa for at least three years.

• Have lived and worked in a designated regional area during this time.

• Submit proof of meeting the minimum annual income requirement for three consecutive years.

• If applying as a couple, only one partner needs to be the primary applicant for the Subclass 191 visa, but both must meet the income threshold.
